청년 국악인들의 전통 공연 무대 뒷이야기
‘Behind the scenes of traditional performances by young Korean musicians ‘

(1) ‘무대 뒤 창작 과정’ with 청년 국악인, 다큐 프로젝트 개요

한국인들의 삶의 이야기와 희노애락을 담고 있는 경기민요는 일제강점기의 힘든 시절을 지나면서도 민중의 노래로써 살아남았습니다. 195-60년 이후에는 우리 전통예술을 지키려 여러 제도권에 속하는 등의 방법으로 그 맥을 유지하였지만, 현재 젊은 층에는 옛것으로 치부되고 있습니다. 하지만 그러한 조건에도 우리의 전통예술을 지켜나가는 청년 전통 예술인들이 있습니다.

그들은 어떤 계기로, 무슨 생각으로 우리 것을 지켜가고 있는지,, 그 생생한 현장을 15년 동안 민요를 전공해온 소리꾼 남경우와 함께 전통 공연 제작과정이라는 순간으로 아카이빙하기 위해 시작 되었습니다.

(2) ‘무대 뒤 창작 과정’ with 청년 국악인, 다큐 프로젝트의 목표

청년 전통예술인으로서 연출, 기획, 경기소리 등 왕성한 활동을 하고 있는 국악 창작자 ‘남경우‘를 필두로 하여 청년 전통예술인들이 겪고 있는 어려운 상황들과 현장의 모습을 작품과 영상으로써 녹여내고자 하였습니다.

촬영 장소는 판교에 소재한 성음아트센터와 개인 연습실, 서울 종로에 소재한 은덕 문화원을 중심으로 하여 다큐멘터리라는 방식으로 현 시대에 전통예술을 하는 청년들의 삶을 공유, 공연을 실행하는 모습을 담았습니다. 또한, 작품 창작 과정을 상영하여 현대인들과 소통할 수 있는 또 다른 매개체로써 활용하고자 하였습니다..

본 작품은 경기도 일자리 재단에서 프로젝트비를 500만원을 지원 받았으며, 최종적으로 유튜브, 인스타그램 등의 매체로 공유되어 전통예술과 청년 예술인들의 또 다른 소통 창구가 되었습니다.

(1) An overview of the documentary project /
“Creative Process Behind the Stage” with young Korean traditional musicians

Gyeonggi folk songs, which contain stories of Koreans’ lives and joys, anger, sorrows, and pleasure, survived as a folk song through the difficult times of Japanese colonial era. Since 195-60, it has maintained its status in various institutional ways to protect our traditional art, but it is now regarded as old by young people. But even under those conditions, there are young, traditional artists who keep our traditional art.

They started to archive the vivid scene with Nam Kyung-woo, a Sorikkun(Korean folk song singer) who majored in folk music for 15 years, as a traditional performance production process.

Nam Kyeong-woo, who is in charge of the performance, planned various elements to more easily convey the stories symbolized by each sound to the audience. Visually, media art that fits the theme of the song was used, and audibly, the composition were conducted outside the framework of the ready-made accompaniment. These factors contributed to empathizing and enjoying with the audience by explaining the story of our Pungryu culture and Gyeonggi sound that we enjoyed in and out of Gyeonggi-do while protecting the uniqueness of traditional music.

This work was selected as the First Support in the Life of Gyeonggi Arts” and was sponsored by the Gyeonggi-do and Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation and was invited to a permanent performance at the Eundeok Cultural Center in Jongno, Seoul after its premiere.” It was a great opportunity to share the modern reinterpreted sound of the game in today’s Pungryubang by meeting with a wider audience and various age groups in the metropolitan area

(2) The goal of the documentary project /
“Creative Process Behind the Stage” with young Korean traditional musicians

The filming location is centered on the Seong-eum Art Center in Pangyo, a private practice room in Pangyo, and the Eundeok Cultural Center in Jongno, Seoul, sharing the lives of young people who do traditional arts in the present era. In addition, we tried to screen the process of creating works and use them as another medium to communicate with modern people.

This work received 5 million won from the Gyeonggi Job Foundation, and was finally shared through media such as YouTube and Instagram, becoming another channel of communication between traditional arts and young artists.
