경기민요와 우리의 삶, 현시대에 되살아나다 !
Gyeonggi folk songs and our lives, come back to the right now!

‘2023 시나위 악보가게’는 국악에 대한 문턱을 낮추고, 도민들이 편하게 국악을 즐길 수 있도록 총 4편으로 기획된 작품입니다. 이번 공연에는 경기 소리꾼 이희문 연출을 필두로 조연출 남경우와 강권순성악앙상블 ‘소리봄’과 경기시나위오케스트라가 참여하였습니다.

그 중, 남경우는 지난 4월 첫 번째 작품 ‘민요연습실’ 과 네 번째 작품 ‘환갑’의 조연출을 맡으며, 일정 관리, 공연 방향 컨펌 및 섭외 등을 담당했습니다.

첫 번째 작품인 ‘민요연습실’은, 경기국악원의 가장 안쪽 건물 2층의 성악앙상블 ‘소리봄’ 단원들이 매일 부딪히며 공연을 준비하고 만들어가는 특별한 공간, 민요연습실에 대한 얘기를 풀어냅니다. ‘소리봄’ 단원들은 직장인의 비애와 예술가로서의 중압감을 동시에 느끼며 살아가고 있는 그들의 속내를 경기민요의 백미로 꼽는 노랫가락과 창부타령의 선율에 녹여냅니다. 또한, 관객석을 무대 위로 올리는 연출로 관객과 소리꾼이 더 가까이 소통하며 즐길 수 있는 색다른 무대를 구현하였습니다.

네 번째이자 마지막 작품인 ‘환갑’은 경기시나위 성악앙상블 ‘소리봄’ 과 함께 환갑이 넘은 청춘만발 세대들을 위한 흥겨운 파티로 연출하였습니다. 환갑(還甲)은 60년 동안 무탈히 잘 살았다는 의미로 장수를 축하하는 우리나라 고유의 전통 풍습인데, 평균 수명이 길어져 환갑의 의미가 무색해진 현재는 제2의 인생의 출발을 축하하고, 장수를 기원하는 의미로 재해석되고 있습니다.

이토록 과거 환갑잔치에서 중요한 역할을 했던 경기민요를 주인공으로 삼아, 그 시절의 산증인인 총 6명의 어머님을 모시고, 육십까지 사느라 고생한 세대와는 달리, 육십부터 시작하는 지금의 세대를 위한 새로운 개념의 민요파티를 만들었습니다.

‘여자, 소리꾼, 환갑, 예술가‘ 등의 주제로 우리들의 일상 속 만나볼 수 있는, 만나 보았을 법한 보편적인 삶들을 민요로써 재탄생하는 공연에 조연출로 참여하였습니다. 이희문 연출과 함께 ’경기민요‘를 통한 전통 풍속의 재해석, 그리고 관객과의 소통에 중점을 두어 본 공연의 스토리텔링을 기획, 관련 자료 조사에 집중하였고 전석 매진이라는 성과를 거두며 서민들의 노래인 ’민요‘를 세상에 재탄생 시키고 그 가치를 공유했던 성과를 거두었습니다.

“The 2023 Sinawi Music Store” is a total of four works designed to lower the threshold for Korean traditional music and help residents enjoy Korean traditional music comfortably. The performance was led by famous Gyeonggi sorikkun(Korean folk song singer) Directing Lee Hee-moon with Assistant director Nam Kyeong-woo. and Kang Kwon Soon- Song Ensemble ‘soribom’ Appeared.

Among them, Nam Kyung-woo played a Assistant directing in the first “Minyo Practice Room” and the fourth “60” and was in charge of managing schedules, confirming the direction of the performance, and recruiting.

The first work, “The Folk Song Practice Room,” tells the story of a special space, a folk song practice room, where members of the vocal ensemble “Soribom” on the second floor of the innermost building of the Gyeonggi Gugak Center meet every day to prepare and make performances. The members of “Soribom” melt the sorrow of office workers and their feelings of pressure as artists into the melody of Noraetgarak and changbutaryeong, which counts them as the highlight of Gyeonggi folk songs. In addition, by directing the audience seats onto the stage, we realized a unique stage where audiences and singers can communicate more closely and enjoy.

The fourth and final work, ‘還甲(60th birthday)’, was directed as an exciting party for the generation of young people(60th age) who are over 60 years old, along with the Gyeonggi Sinawi vocal ensemble, Soribom. 60 years(還甲) is a traditional custom in Korea that celebrates longevity, meaning that you have lived well for 60 years, but now that the meaning of 60 years has been overshadowed by longer life expectancy, it is being reinterpreted as a celebration of the start of a second life and wishing for a long life.

Taking Gyeonggi folk songs, which played an important role in the 60th birthday party in the past, we took a total of six mothers who were living witnesses at that time and created a new concept of folk party for the current generation starting from 60.

Under the theme of “Women, Singers, 60s, and Artists,” I participated in a performance that recreates universal lives that we may have met in our daily lives as folk songs. Along with director Lee Hee-moon, he planned the storytelling of the performance by focusing on reinterpretation of traditional customs and communication with the audience through Gyeonggi Folk Song, focused on researching related materials, and recreated the song of ordinary people into the world and shared its value.
